Ulrike Rodrigues announced the 2010/2011 Julia Broderick Scholarship Winner

The Julia Broderick Scholarship award for 2010/2011 was presented to Ulrike Rodrigues at the May 2011 program meeting.

Ulrike, who graduated from the BCIT Technical Writing certificate program in July 2011, is a multi-faceted individual, having worked in electronic publishing, earned a BA in cognitive psychology, and written extensively for cycling publications and organizations.

Congratulations, Ulrike!

Abstract

I have three passions in life: writing, thinking, and exploring. Whenever our family moved, I would jump on my blue Supercycle and explore the back streets and ravines then rush home to write down the stories that welled up inside me.

My mother joked that I’d grow up to be a writer, and I believed her.

My best achievement is when my writing has provoked someone to think, feel, or understand. I measure my success by the small ways my passion has sparked small acts.
