STC Canada West Coast Chapter Wins 2008/2009 Pacesetter Award

STC CWC is the proud recipient of the STC Pacesetter Award for 2008/2009. This award was presented at the closing reception and banquet at this year’s STC Technical Communication Summit. One of only three awards given out this year, the Pacesetter Award is presented to chapters for their contributions to furthering the STC’s goals through innovative programs or activities. Specifically, the STC CWC won this award for our use of technology to enhance all functions of the chapter.

This year, we’ve been transitioning to become a virtual chapter. Our kick-off meeting allowed people to participate from off-site. We have been working behind the scenes to make our meetings more accessible to people who can’t attend in person, seeding topics on the discussion forum, and continuing our efforts to bring added value to membership with the STC CWC.

We’re also participating in social media, whether it’s our LinkedIn group, the blog format of Coastlines, or Twitter.

We couldn’t have done this without the tireless efforts of our chapter volunteers, and the continued support of our members. Join us at the May 19 program meeting to celebrate this award, recognize our new Fellow of the STC, and congratulate the winner of the Julia Broderick Scholarship.
