2007/2008 Chapter Executive Announced
Thank you to all members who voted in our chapter election. The new executive council is:
Theresa Putkey, President
Theresa Putkey operates the technical communications consultancy, Key Pointe Communicators. She has been a technical writer since 2000 and has been involved with STC Canada West Coast since 2002. Theresa has been a member of the chapter Programs team, a staff writer, and the Editor of Coast lines, the chapter newsletter.
Lachlan Murray, Secretary
Lachlan Murray has been a technical writer for 8 years. He currently works for FDM Software in North Vancouver, a company that produces enterprise software for fire departments and 911 call centers. He was previously a self-employed contractor, and also worked for Versaterm, an Ottawa-based company that makes enterprise software for police agencies. Lachlan has a background in English and Creative Writing and continues to pursue other types of writing in addition to technical writing. Lachlan has served as chapter Secretary for the past two and a half years.
Susan Patch, Treasurer
Susan Patch has been a technical communicator, business analyst, and web designer for the past 11 years, and she also has over 6 years experience in accounting and small business management. Susan is currently working as the content coordinator at CGA Online, providing graphic design and publishing services as well as technical support. Susan is a Past President of the STC Canada West Coast and has served as the chapter Treasurer for the past two years.
Odile Morrison, Immediate Past President
Odile Morrison is a freelance technical communicator. Operating as Vivid Text Communications, she has produced a wide variety of communication products for companies in Canada, Finland, England, and the US. She is proud to call herself a tech. comm. generalist and has a keen interest in usability and new technologies. Prior to her tenure on the Executive team (as Vice President and Chapter President), she led the STC Canada West Coast Contractors Group and implemented our very successful Contractors Directory.
**Note, the election of a Vice President will occur later in the 2007-2008 term.
Please welcome our new council. The first business meeting of the year will take place June 16, at our annual Strategic Planning Session. All members and non-members are welcome to join us at this event where we will start planning for the upcoming season. Read more and register here.
