AGM Notice and April program meeting
Dear STC Canada West Coast member,
Executive positions need to be acclaimed at our Annual General Meeting which is held in conjunction with the April program meeting.
If you’re a member, arrive by 6:45 for AGM business
The subject of this message is not the program itself but rather the business of the AGM. Notice of the meeting has been announced in issues of the Monthly Digest. Before the presentation begins, we will hear the President’s report, the Treasurer’s report, and elect directors who will serve in the next program year. It begins June 1 and ends the following May 31 to accommodate leadership transition and strategic planning by new directors over the summer.
As a registered society we must hold an election. (Sorry!)
The current Secretary and Treasurer allowed themselves to be nominated to Council: Rob Hughes and Mary Metzger are standing for re-election as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Election occurs by acclamation if no nominee is opposed. Our rules of succession call for the Vice President to succeed the President automatically a year after election, so today’s VP, Mellissa Ruryk, becomes President. The position of Vice President will then become vacant as of June 1.
Now could be your time to serve
Members in good standing are eligible to put your own name forward to Council. If the VP position fits with your capacities and interests, reply with your professional biography, your relationship with STC and the directions or ideas that you would support. Submit these materials to me no later than April 30. Whether as a candidate or a participant in our program meeting, I hope to see you on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Downtown Vancouver YWCA, 535 Hornby Street to hear a presentation by Rahel Anne Bailie on Content Strategy Paradox.
With best professional regards,
Pam Drucker
