November 2003 Program Meeting: Annual General Meeting and “Using Metrics to Tell Your Story” by De Murr
Meeting Description
At our chapter’s Annual General Meeting, important changes to our Bylaws were voted upon.
Our Bylaws Committee put forward revisions that permit virtual meetings, strengthen the succession planning, and present the Bylaws in gender-neutral language.
Chapter members voted to accept these proposed changes [See the revised bylaws].

The AGM was followed by our Bimonthly Program Meeting where De Murr, of Walt Disney Imagineering, presented Using Metrics to Tell Your Story.
The evaluation of performance by products, projects, and people is, now more than ever, on the minds of project managers and technical communicators—Deirdre (De) Murr’s presentation “Using Metrics to Tell Your Story” enables us to identify and utilize metrics to tell the right story to management; to support our business cases and get the resources we need.
As manager of the technical publications department for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Ms. Murr supervises nine people working on over 100 projects with an annual operating and project budget of more than $4 million. During her 20 years in the technical communication field, she has spent ten of them managing technical writing departments and projects.
She joined STC in 1983, was elected associate fellow in 1994, and attained full fellow status in 2002.
