February 21, 2012 Program Night - Karen Rempel teaches yoga for the office

Chair Yoga for the Office

What would be more suitable for the office than gentle and revitalizing chair yoga? This chair yoga program is ideal for technical communicators and anyone who spends a lot of time in a chair at office meetings, at a computer, or on the phone. Conforming our bodies to machines takes its toll. Even with the most ergonomically appropriate workspace, we often suffer from sore arms, shoulders, wrists, or backs. (Not to mention soreness in the posterior region from sitting all day!) With chair yoga, you can ease tension, gently release sore muscles, and refresh yourself right at your desk. Absolutely no experience is necessary. This one-hour session, appropriate for any fitness level, will show you some simple yoga breathing and both seated and standing chair yoga postures that you can do at your office—even in business clothing—to revitalize yourself during your work day, bringing energy and suppleness into your body, focusing your mind, and easing tension from your eyes and neck. What to wear: Comfortable clothing is optional! Come in your work clothes to see how easy it is to pause and refresh your body and mind at any time in your work day. What to bring: Nothing but your self. No yoga mats will be used in this class. We will provide the chairs.
