2009 January Event: Yoga for the Office |
Conforming our bodies to machines takes its toll. Even with the most
ergonomically appropriate workspace, we often suffer from sore arms,
shoulders, wrists, or backs. (Not to mention a sore posterior from sitting
all day!) Get a fresh start for 2009 with this gentle and revitalizing yoga
program for technical communicators and anyone else who spends a lot of time
in office meetings, at a computer, or on the phone.
Absolutely no experience is necessary. This one-hour session, appropriate
for any fitness level, will show you some simple yoga breathing and postures
that you can do at your office-even in business clothing-to revitalize
yourself during your work day, bringing energy and suppleness into your
body, focusing your mind, and easing tension in your eyes and neck.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing is optional! Come in your work clothes to
see how easy it is to pause and refresh your body and mind at any time
during your work day.
What to bring: Nothing but yourself. No yoga mats will be used in this
class. No need to take notes: a handy desk-reference card will be provided
so you can take what you’ve learned to work with you the very next day.
The yoga class will be followed by a 5-minute volunteer-appreciation
ceremony and half-hour networking social with lots of delicious food. Come
and join us for a fun and relaxing evening with the STC!
