There’s a lot more to technical writing than writing, and professionalism is about being competent at all aspects of the job. At this meeting hosted by the Canada West Coast Chapter Society for Technical Communication, Andre Lanz will explore the diverse tasks that constitute a technical writing project, the skills we need to complete those tasks, and the relative importance of those skills.
Along the way, Andre will draw from his long experience working in engineering environments to let you in on a few secrets related to collecting information, dealing with engineers, and establishing a successful career. This one’s sure to dispel some myths and provide some insights!
Andre Lanz is an engineer and president of his own technical documentation company. Over the past 10 years, he has researched, written and illustrated over 10,000 pages of original technical documentation, predominantly for the high-tech industry. His documents have included product support manuals, training materials, proposals and college-level course curricula. His professional experience includes project management, business administration, corporate financing, R&D, systems engineering, product development, quality control and customer support.
In his spare time, Andre teaches part-time at BCIT as part of the Technical Writing Program and spends time with his family, including a set of high energy triplets.
Come to the meeting to learn from this master juggler!
