September 2004 Program Meeting: The Outsourcing Dilemma: Where Do We Fit In?

This presentation examined both sides of the outsourcing debate, the realities of outsourcing to India, and how Canadian technical writers are well-situated to take advantage of the outsourcing trend.

Speaker Gabriel Forbes experienced outsourcing firsthand when his employer, Pivotal Corporation, moved several jobs offshore. Gabriel has a unique insight on the cultural and organizational differences involved with this growing trend after spending several months in India helping Pivotal set up their operations there. He still works as a technical communicator at the Pivotal’s Vancouver office.
