The New Year marks a new membership year for the STC and the halfway point for the Canada West Coast STC calendar year. I’d like to thank our many volunteers for their excellent work so far planning and hosting events, hosting the STC competition and our scholarship, maintaining and developing our Web site, hosting our job bank and contractors directory, and creating online media content.

Our year is half done — stay tuned for some upcoming special events, including the last of the Rockley workshops, “Content Management Implementation Strategies,” Ginny Redish’s workshop on developing personas, and our after-the-holidays winter party, where we will honour our competition award winners and new Senior members.

The new year also brings with it the tradition of goal setting. Have you considered what professional goals you are setting this year? One of my goals is to help our chapter finalize our re-chartering process, which is part of the STC’s Transformation Initiative (http://www.stc.org/transformation). (Those of you who are seasoned STC members will recognize the term “transformation.”)

Re-chartering is an opportunity to affirm our vision and mission, as well as broadly define goals to meet the needs of our community and record strategies to meet those goals. Work has already been done to start our re-chartering process (see http://www.stcwestcoast.ca/03_resources/strat_plan_2005_6.pdf), but it is time for you to give some input. If you are interested in learning more and being a part of our re-chartering committee, please contact me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
