Following our theme of “Technology,” this issue presents technology-related issues. As technical writers, we can make ourselves even more valuable by becoming familiar with the technologies that companies use to create their products and services.
This issue looks at Content Management and XML, user groups, blogging, and accessibility. Rahel Bailie gives us an overview of Content Management while Stanley Ulmer provides an introduction to document conversion once a Content Management system is in place. Some of us need to know about Content Management software while some of us have to deal with the effects of this software.
We also have several items from the active Contractors’ Group, including a report on the Contractors’ directory from Rob Hughes. The group’s successful meeting in November reviewed how to create a winning portfolio.
For the first time, we have a report from a technical writer, Rhona McAdam, who lives and works on Vancouver Island. This is a great way to get non-GVRD chapter members involved and I encourage writers from the Valley or the Interior to write in with your reports.
