STC Membership Renewals

Published: October 2006 in Society News

It’s that time of the year again – time for membership renewals! Mary K. Kabza, Director of Marketing & Membership, gives us the heads up regarding this year’s STC renewal season plans.

According to the STC Bylaws, the renewal deadline is January 1. From October ‘06 to early March ‘07, members will be contacted frequently by email and snail mail. Notices will be sent only to people who have not renewed by the time the office staff produces a list of members to contact individually.

The first renewal notice to all members will be sent by email the first week in October.  At that point, the renewal application will be online and ready for use. Small tweaks have been made to the application form to make it more consistent and easier to use.  The first snail mail to members (including a renewal invoice) will be sent out in mid-November. Starting with autumn renewals, the office will be using a lock box for applications received by post.

STC staff will do their best to process applications quickly and accurately.  However, if people renew (particularly by post) and their application is still being processed at the time the next notice is sent, there is always a chance for system and human error. Your understanding is appreciated when these things occur.

Renewals will be processed after the renewal deadline without loss of benefits or membership status.  However, earlier renewals are encouraged - we want to abide by the Bylaws. Please consult your chapter executive if you have any questions or concerns about renewals, the membership application, deadlines, and promoting membership in the community.
