Summer made a graceful exit and opened the door for a bright new fall! Corporate North America has packed up its holiday gear, and for many of us, that means the busy season is just beginning.

For the West Coast Chapter of STC, the summer has been anything but a holiday for many dedicated volunteers. The 2006–07 Strategic Planning Session was held June 24; the turnout was great and many exciting ideas were generated. The new Volunteer Wiki is up and running.

The big news, though, is that the new website was successfully launched in late September, and Coast Lines in now on line. The theme of this edition is Usability. And what better way for technical communicators to demonstrate their skills and knowledge of usability issues than with a new website? Naturally there will be a few bumps to be smoothed out, but you can be sure that the best minds will be used to solve any problems.

As the new Coast Lines editor, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the meetings and hearing from you – both through comments and your volunteer articles. Welcome all, to a new STC season.
