The point of networking is not to immediately snag a job, although it’s great if that happens, but to make yourself visible and memorable to others.

Thanks, Lois! Good point about being visible and memorable. It’s human nature to prefer the familiar, so the more that people see us around and get a sense of who we are, the more they are likely to think of us when a job comes up.
